Using Fluoride Rinse for At Home Whitening

The professionals say that if you use a toothpaste that contains fluoride to brush your teeth twice daily then it provides the teeth with enough fluoride to protect it from cavities. This, it is believed to help you prevent cavities to a great extent.

There have been research done in the past which have proved that using fluoride for mouth rinse can supplement brushing with toothpastes that contain fluoride on a daily basis. These fluoride rinse help in strengthening the tooth enamel and also protecting it from any kind of acidic damage.

However, this tooth whitening treatment of using fluoride for mouth rinse has not shown enough effectiveness in preventing plaque and gingivitis or any other form of severe gum diseases. Thus, no matter what you do for whiter teeth, the most basic thing is always important and that is to brush and floss your teeth on a regular basis.

The following steps can be followed if you want to do fluoride rinse. These are:

  • Ensure that you use the right amount. Sue as directed by the dentist, or as indicated on the label of the product.
  • Swish hard and for a longer period. Keep your mouth closed when you swish and do it vigorously.
  • Do not swallow the mouth rinse. It has to be spit. Most of the fluoride rinses can be toxic if you swallow a large amount of it.

For it to be more effective, avoid eating, drinking or smoking for the next thirty minutes after you use it.
